What is the CLT?
In Florida, the CLT (Classic Learning Test)
has become a significant alternative to the SAT and ACT for high school
students. Here's everything you need to know:
What Is the CLT?
The Classic Learning Test is a college entrance exam that emphasizes critical thinking, logic, and classical texts. Each section has 40 questions and lasts 40 minutes. It includes:
- Verbal Reasoning
- Grammar/Writing
- Quantitative Reasoning
It's accepted by many colleges and universities, and now by all Florida public universities as of September 2023.
CLT in Florida: Key Benefits
Thanks to recent legislation, Florida students can use the CLT to:
- Apply to Florida state universities ONLY
- Meet high school graduation requirements
- Qualify for dual enrollment
- Earn Bright Futures scholarships
CLT Financial Assistance Eligibility
Financial aid applications open three months before the test administration date. Applications must be submitted no later than two weeks before the registration deadline for the exam.
Using Your Financial Assistance
An approved financial assistance request does not mean you are registered and paid for your intended test date. If approved, a unique discount code will be sent to the email listed on your CLT Student Account.
CLT exams have registration limits. Please act quickly upon receiving your code to complete your registration in order to test on your preferred day.
Have you registered for an exam?
Please ensure you have created an account at cltexam.com and selected a test date; however, you do not need to complete payment at this time. Once you receive an email about your financial assistance, you will be prompted to complete the registration.
You must register for your exam before applying for financial assistance. Requests must be received 2 weeks before the registration deadline for the exam.
CLT Financial Assistance Request Form
To be successful in the test, it is recommended to take the three practice tests that the CLT offers for free when you create your account.
